Color is our constant companion

No matter where we go, color surrounds us. Color, like sound, has a potent impact on our moods and well being. It stimulates, calms and cheers us and can heighten our good moods or depress them. Because of that, the colors we surround ourselves with play no small part in our overall sense of well being and the colors that we choose for our homes are a critical part of that.
There is nothing quite like paint to totally alter your interior environment. In only a few hours, you can not only accomplish a complete transformation of any room but you can also do it for a few hundred dollars.

The understanding and choosing of color can be daunting though. With literally thousands of colors for us to choose from, it’s small wonder that people look for professional guidance when choosing those colors for their own homes.
The job of a color consultant is much like that of a room designer: balancing all the colors in objects for maximum impact whatever the kind of impact or style you choose to project. Walls, floors, rugs, accessories, window treatments and artwork should all work together color-wise to reflect your own unique sense of personal style. A color consultant can help you accomplish that by creating a custom color palette for you that is a reflection of your own color sensibilities.

What's involved in a color consultation?
We specialize and are certified in home color consulting. Why choose a color consultant for your home, you ask?
A home color consultation is designed to provide a color palette of anywhere from five to eight hand-selected colors that reflect your style and preferences. Paint colors are chosen with a variety of factors in mind: the function of your rooms, the light that’s available in those rooms and the relativity of one color to another. Most importantly, all of the above is done with a consideration of the colors in your current or intended furnishings and accessories.
Additionally, color emphasis is placed on the way the rooms in your house “flow” and relate to one another. With your collaboration, the goal of a great color consultation is to provide a harmonious color impression that flows flawlessly and beautifully throughout your home, whatever your particular style. A color consultation is a lot more than just picking pretty colors.
Once the session is complete and the colors have been chosen for your custom color palette, you will be supplied with a “color map” delineating the colors that are specified for each room, trim, ceiling and hallway along with corresponding color chip samples. Paint brands will be specified as well.
A small home color consultation normally costs $245 for up to 90 minutes of consultation. We realize that it’s hard to hire someone you don’t know for something as personal as your home décor. So, please, do two things first: look at some of my work on this website. Next, give me a call at 858-736-4100 so we can chat a bit, get to know one another and discuss your needs first. There's no obligation for this call. You can also sign up for a free color consultation in our monthly drawing by going here.

WALL PAINTING colors WITH SUBTLE IMPACT:

This room was an intriguing challenge in that the opposite wall had floor to ceiling windows along with the entry way to the house so little furniture could be placed there. The owners wanted to use the area you see as a place for guests to sit and chat. Luckily, we found the sectional couch (on sale no less) that exactly fit into the space. Wanting some vibrant color, the owner choose one of the paintings that I'd painted as a pivotal part of the decor. We choose the pillows next, the small orange lamp and the coffee table to coordinate. At that time the walls were white and both the owner and I felt the room looked too stark. We choose a lavendar paint and had it applied with a faux finish to add texture and much needed warmth to the room. The existing room carpet had been a dusty greyish blue that needed to be replaced. To counter the dark couch, we choose a light sage carpet color. The Final touch was to paint the wall with the pass through to the kitchen a sea foam green to coordinate with the new carpet. Note: that's their very real dog!
